For this week I thought I would go with something fun and something that was good tasting, which is Cookies by Design. When I turned 16 it was an exciting day because I was able to drive! When I got home from school that day sitting on my kitchen counter was one of these Cookie bouquets saying Happy Birthday!
I loved the way they looked and the way they were designed. The frosting was done so well and the colors were so bright that it made the cookies look very tasty but they were almost too good looking that I didn’t even want to eat them! Although this has nothing to do with Graphic Design, it is design to me because working with frosting to create an image on a cookie is pretty amazing.
If you go on the website you can literally order any cookie bouquet for any occasion. This was one of the better birthday presents I have gotten because the cookies them self were really good! Who knows maybe some of you will be getting one for a graduation gift? Except it would say 2011 instead of 2009 like the one below! After writing this blog post I really want one now since its been a while since I have had one! :)
I love those cookie bouquets and the other ones by Edible Arrangements that have fruit! I feel like they're so much better than a bouquet of flowers because they won't just die after you're done enjoying looking at them - you can eat them!

I can't say I've ever had an edible design treat like the ones listed above, but I think this relates to the discussion of specialized tasks or why you'd hire someone to do something you may be able to do at home. Although I can bake pretty well, I'd be afraid of chopping up things like fruit or icing cookies with precision.

ReplyDeleteHas anyone ever watched Bride Wars...chick flick with Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson. Hudson gets a huge cookie bouquet from her ex best friends trying to ruin her wedding and later can't fit into her Vera Wang wedding dress. Kinda random but this post reminds me of how I love the cookie designs and how much they make me want to eat it more. Design makes things more inciting at times. Luckily the edible fruit arrangements are a little more waist friendly. Its kind of like the cupcake craze that's going on right now. Its not only a battle of taste but a battle on who can make the best designed cupcakes.

ReplyDeleteI was only aware of the fruit arrangements. I will definitely keep this in mind for the future. I also agree in the sense that the design probably helps in enticing the viewer and the taste seals the deal.

ReplyDeleteGreat post! I definitely agree that designs like this are very successful and effective because it allows the audience to interact with these type of designs. I am definitely apart of that target audience that interacts with the design. I have received and given these Edible Designs as gifts and I haven't heard and/or given any bad feedback regarding these edible gifts!
