AWESOME!

A month or so ago, my roommate and I were browsing the internet and she pulled up a really interesting video for a new laptop concept. The Rolltop computer is supposed to be the new revolution in portable technology. I thought the design was amazingly sleek and flexible, which allows it to be rolled up like a yoga mat and carried over the shoulder with a strap. The video is great:

I really love how people are coming up with ways to make our everyday life more simple. Even though my laptop is pretty slim, it still is heavy and also inconvenient that I have to have another bag to carry it in. This design, if it actually becomes popular, would be very useful to the business professional or commuter that has to travel with his or her work. It's also kind of funny to me that soon all of our technology will be touch screen, flatter, and smaller. It just shows what is popular in our culture and where our priorities are.

  1. I like the idea of using a pen to touch the screen and design instead of a mouse. It reminds me of how the Google Doodles are created. I would definitely consider buying one of these if they hit the stores.

  2. Cool! I love the versatility of it. I hope I am around long enough for something like this to come out when I am still technologically adept. Our kids are going to be using stuff like this and are going to be calling our mac laptops old school.

  3. This is a great concept! I agree with Julie about what our future kids will think about our technology compared to the really cool technology that they will have that will be out years from now. I am always thinking about what I have today that my parents never had (well maybe because they constantly remind me!) But it is just something that is constantly evolving. I just plan on NOT being the parent or grandparent that always has to say "Well back in my day we had this..." Ha ha!

  4. No freakin' way. This is awesome. I really hope they actually hit the market. I was just telling my boyfriend about how I really want a tablet that is bendable so I can throw it in my bag without it getting cracked. Cool.

  5. This laptop would be sick if it was real! It's so clever, yet efficient, every piece gets used and has a purpose, love it! I don't really know if I would trust a computer that could bend, how would the hard drive work and how would you not see all the folds in the screen? But I love the idea of it and if they can figure it all out, I see a new computer market in our future.

  7. I believe it. Just look at where technology has advanced in just our lifetime so far.

  8. Well, they already have flexible keyboards, so I guess this is the next best step!

  9. I feel like a rolltop would leave room for a lot of technical issues. I'd be nervous that it would break while I rolled it.

  10. This is crazy! I can't wrap my mind around the idea of a computer being able to "roll".

I agree that I would be scared to crush it!

  12. Exactly what Tony posted. But I also wonder how this would work. What kind of material will they need that will allow for such flexibility? I'm sure something similar to this will come out in the future.

  13. As with anything, if the concept works, they will develop the technology to suit it.

  14. I went to the site and even showed my dad its a great idea but I also don't know if we have the technology to make it...yet.

  15. this looks like a fantastic concept, but i think the industry would job straight to a roll-up tablet! i would definitely want one!

  16. I am blown away with this computer. It is almost scary how fast technology is developing and we don't even know the half of it!

  17. That seems awesome. I agree with Sheri, how would you not see the creases in the screen when it was laying flat? This reminds me of a pen or graphic tablet, but portable.
