The Dieline - Package Design

For the people doing package design and the other people who might be interested in package design, I have a really great resource: http://www.thedieline.com/

First of all, I must say that I DEFINITELY know people that work at the wrong hotels in Chicago, because they're going to be having a conference at the Hyatt Chicago (on wacker) in June. Unfortunately, tickets for students are almost $600. BUT! The good news is that their blog is free!

It is a plethora of inspiration for anybody who is interested in package design. Personally, I am a huge fan of looking at beer and alcohol labels, which is how I stumbled upon their blog in the first place. They have literally every kind of package design you could image on there, and aside from just being visual candy they also have descriptions of the projects and more details for most of the projects if you're really nerdy like we are. They even have 'student spotlights' - talk about good resume material for those kids.

  3. I'm pretty interested in package design and advertising, so I LOVE these cans. They are pretty cool! And I agree, Nina. I think we should do a package design project!

  7. I like a lot of what they're spotlighting, but why is Amy's Vegetable Lasagna featured in the top 10 of the week? I like Amy's foods, but I always thought their packaging was very stuffy... like photos from an 80's cookbook.

  8. I have been lucky enough to have had an experience with packaging design. In my high school they offered a Commercial Design class for Seniors who were interested in pursuing graphic design. I took that class and had to develop all the illustrations for my "company" and the packaging. That class was one of the best I ever took and I still use skills that I learned from there.

I love the design and think that it's awesome that it's so colorful!

  9. my personal favorite from the website was the nail polish blocks! So cool looking, and would probably sell really well in a salon or spa due to the display possibilities!
